Overview
A subdomain acts as a further extension of your main domain, allowing you to create dedicated sections for specific purposes. This guide will walk you through adding a subdomain in cPanel on your Aveshost account.
Steps:
-
Login to cPanel: Access your cPanel account through your Aveshost control panel. Or open your web browser and go to your cPanel login URL. It usually looks like
http://yourdomain.com/cpanel
. - Create a New Domain: Inside the cPanel look for Domains and click on it. Click the "Create A New Domain" button
- Enter the Subdomain Information: In the Create a New Domain field, enter the subdomain name you want to add (e.g., app.
example.com
). - Document Root (File System Location): The Subdomain and Document Root fields will automatically populate. Leave these as they are.
- Document Root: This is the directory where your addon domain's files will be stored. Make sure the checkbox "Share document root" is unchecked.
- Double-check all the information you have entered.
- Submit: Now click on the "Submit" button to create your new subdomain.
- Verify the Subdomain: Navigate back to the Domains section to verify that your new subdomain appears in the list.
Additional Notes:
- After creating the subdomain, you'll need to upload your website files specific to the subdomain into the designated document root directory. You can use an FTP client or the cPanel File Manager for this purpose.
- A subdomain doesn't require separate DNS configuration; it inherits the settings of your main domain.
By following these steps, you can successfully add a subdomain in your cPanel account and create dedicated sections within your main domain.
