Introduction

If you're managing your domain's DNS through a third-party provider—such as Cloudflare, GoDaddy, or any other external DNS service—and you're using Aveshost Email Hosting (powered by cPanel), you’ll need to manually configure your MX (Mail Exchange) records to route email properly.

This guide will walk you through the process of setting up the correct MX records to ensure your Aveshost email functions smoothly, even if you're not using Aveshost's nameservers.

Step-by-Step Guide to Configure MX Records for Aveshost Email Hosting

✅ Step 1: Log In to Your DNS Provider’s Dashboard

  • Go to your third-party DNS provider’s website (e.g., Cloudflare.com).

  • Log in to your account.

  • Navigate to the DNS settings or DNS management area for your domain.

✅ Step 2: Remove Existing MX Records (If Any)

  • Look for any existing MX records for the domain.

  • Delete or disable them to prevent conflicts with Aveshost email routing.

✅ Step 3: Add Aveshost MX Record

Add a new MX record with the following details:

  • Name/Host: @ or your domain name (e.g., example.com)

  • Priority: 0 (or as indicated in your Aveshost cPanel via Zone Editor)

  • Value / Mail Server / Destination: mail.yourdomain.com (replace with the actual mail server name shown in your Aveshost cPanel via zone Editor)

  • TTL: Automatic or 3600 seconds

⚠️ Note: You can find your correct mail server in your Aveshost cPanel under Email Accounts > Connect Devices or Zone Editor.

✅ Step 4: Add A Record (If Required)

If you're pointing to mail.yourdomain.com in your MX record, make sure there's a corresponding A record like this:

  • Type: A

  • Name: mail

  • IP Address: Enter Aveshost server IP address

  • TTL: Automatic or 3600

✅ This ensures the mail subdomain correctly resolves to the Aveshost mail server.

✅ Step 5: (Optional) Add SPF, DKIM, and DMARC Records

To improve email deliverability and prevent spoofing, add these optional DNS records:

SPF Record (TXT):

  • Name: @

  • Value: v=spf1 +a +mx +ip4:YOUR_SERVER_IP ~all

Replace YOUR_SERVER_IP with your actual hosting IP from Aveshost.

DKIM and DMARC:

  • These can also be found in your cPanel under Email Deliverability or Zone Editor Copy the suggested DKIM and DMARC records into your DNS provider’s panel.

✅ Step 6: Save and Propagate

  • Save all changes in your DNS panel.

  • DNS changes may take up to 12–48 hours to fully propagate, though they often take much less time.

✅ Step 7: Test Your Email Setup

  • Send a test email to and from your Aveshost email account.

  • Use tools like MXToolbox to check your MX record propagation.

  • You can also run an email deliverability check inside cPanel via Email Deliverability under the Email section.
